Slam action locks are commonly used where a slam action is needed to close a panel or lid securely. Designed for left-hand or right-hand installation, these zinc-plated steel locks feature an 8mm square hole for fitting external L handles or other access hardware.
They’re commonly used in underground mining vehicles, fire-resistant structures, and earlier model cars, vans, as well as motorhomes, camper trailers, marine, service, and government vehicles. Their spoon-shaped handle structure allows for two-way access, making them a rugged and reliable solution for industrial and transport functions.

How to install a slam lock
Slam locks are straightforward to install and can be mounted on doors, lids, or barriers, depending on the application. Each mechanical slam action lock is available in left-hand or right-hand options, providing flexibility for different vehicle and access setups.

Step 1 – Prepare the mounting surface
Mark and drill the mounting holes to suit the lock plate, ensuring the panel is clean and level. Mounting screws are sold separately and should match the zinc-plated steel finish to prevent corrosion.

Step 2 – Fit the slam lock to the panel
Position the fastener on the inside of the panel, ensuring the spoon handle faces outward for easy operation. Secure it firmly using the prepared mounting holes and verify the alignment.

Step 3 – Attach the handle or linkage
Fit an external L handle, inner handle, or connecting linkage to the 8mm square spindle hole. This allows the slam latch mechanism to operate from either side of the door if two-way access is required.

Step 4 – Test and adjust for smooth operation
Close the panel several times to confirm the slam action engages properly and the latch holds firmly. Adjust the plate or handle alignment to ensure dependable security and smooth operation.
